For a week, I woke up, walked out of my room, and straight out onto the beach. I’d sit with a book and look out at the sea from this kubo. Then I’d head off for the day’s work, teaching a workshop at the Vigan Arts Festival. The nights were filled with food, drinking, and the grandest company.
